PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Thousands of Garut Regency residents watched the Troop Defile and Carnival to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) which took place on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Garut Regency, Saturday (17/8/2024)
This event was attended by various agencies, ranging from Regional Apparatus (PD), Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), to several sub-districts and communities that also enlivened the event with various performances.
The unique and creative knick-knacks displayed by the carnival participants managed to captivate the hearts of the people present, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin, on that occasion, said that this year's independence commemoration must be filled with joy, one of which is through carnival activities that can be enjoyed by all groups, from children to adults.
"Earlier we witnessed together how enthusiastic the community was towards the parades displayed by various communities. This is proof that the spirit of independence is still very much felt in society," he said.
The spirit shown today, continued Barnas, should not stop at this moment, but must continue to be maintained and become capital to realize the ideals of a strong, advanced, and sovereign nation.
"This is the foundation that our country is independent. It means prosperous," he said.
He also hopes that this spirit of enthusiasm will not only be felt in urban areas but also in all corners of Garut. Barnas closed with a message that this spirit should continue to be encouraged by the community as a form of respect for the struggle of the nation's heroes.
"We prove that today's meeting is the foundation of the steps taken by the heroes on the battlefield to free this country," he said.
