Motivation is one of the main psychological factors which affects performance. Motivation means to be inspired to do something. The definition of motivation is to give reason, enthusiasm or interest that causes a specific action or certain behaviour. Motivation is present in every function of life. Simple acts such as eating and drinking are motivated by hunger and thirst, respectively.

Types Of Motivation
There are two types of motivation.

2. Extrinsic Motivation: It is external. It occurs when external factors compel the person to do something. Motivation is extrinsic, when external forces, positive or negative produce a behavioural change. Reward, punishment, prize, blame, etc are examples of extrinsic motivation.
Techniques Of Motivation
Various techniques of motivation are applied to sportspersons, and we use also in our life, which can enable them to achieve the top positions in our field. The techniques of motivation are as follows:
1. Goal Setting:
Goal Setting is one of the most important techniques of motivation. If you do not set a goal, you can't achieve an apex position in your life. You always to encourage yourself to set a few ambitious but achievable long-term goals. You have to set goals according to your capabilities and capacities. And before setting long-term goals you also have to set the appropriate medium-term goals as well as short-term goals.
2. Verbal Comments:
Various factors of motivation are applied at various stages. Verbal comments should be applied during competition. It varies according to past experiences. Like sometimes we motivate ourselves according to the requirements by remembering past negative comments of others or motivational quotes that always keep us motivated.
3. Positive Attitude:
For proper motivation, you have attained always positive attitude towards your work. As we discuss, this is a key factor of all highly successful people, that they always attain a positive attitude towards their work. You can achieve anything. Remember again only you in this world who can beat you, no one is able to do that until you don't want.
4. Motivational Music:
It is particularly a good way to motivate yourself. As the one who wants to go for a training session then, they listen to music according to their requirement. If you take it as for studies then, some watch different inspirational movie scenes, or motivational music. An army man prefers to listen to a patriotic inspirational song, as he does his duty well for his country.
5. Positive Self-talk:
Positive Self-talk is a technique that can be used to enhance motivation. With proper repetition of self-talk can change your belief system. Mohammed Ali, the world-famous boxer of the USA used to apply this technique. He used to repeat, "I am the greatest". He repeated his claim that his opponents believed it. You also have to use the same technique and always say to yourself.

It is a factor which affects performance in some instance. These things motivate ours at some level to perform better in a competition. So if we see then, this is also a strong and important factor which motivate us.
7. Spectators Or Audience
If there is a huge number of spectators, it will have a positive effect on the players. And for the same, if you participate in a competition related to singing and dancing and you don't find an audience there so, it decreases your performance rate. This is true without the audience no one becomes a celebrity. If you write an article but no one can read, so how you encourage yourself to write your second article. Without readers, no writer can stand.

Experimental studies indicate that a person who has the knowledge of his/her progress will learn more rapidly than an equally motivated learner of comparable ability, who is working in the dark. It can be said that an individual who doesn't know where he/she is standing cannot reach his/her destination. Knowledge of progress or results is a must because progress is also a reward in itself. Good progress will definitely motivate the individual.
9. Self-Motivation:
It is a key point and a very elaborate topic, and one of the key factor that helps you to motivate yourself. Many people you see in your life who always keep motivate themselves by remembering their past victories. Actually, self-motivation is a motivation that naturally comes under by selves.
